To translate uncertainty of position and momentum of the quantum world in terms the macro world is easy.
The way you do it is just a simple logic.Imagine a tennis ball and imagine you can't really see it, just like you can't see an electron. So the only way you can see where the tennis ball is is to hit it with another tennis ball or with an enormous amount of light that it will actually displace the tennis ball position, move it that is. At that moment the light brings you the information into your eyes and you see the tennis ball.
It then becomes obvious you have no idea where the tennis ball was prior to that nor would you know which direction it was going. Because you did not have that information. But once you see the tennis ball, one thing becomes certain, its probability wave has collapsed and you know that the tennis ball is certainly not anywhere else. Am I getting fancy on you... well I hope so. Probablity waves, vectors, momentum, metrix, tensor, phase space and so on.
This also means that it took time for you to recieve the information as to the location of the tennis ball also. This means that the tennis ball you observed is the tennis ball in some past time and location. Yes the electron is not there anymore if you think it is because it has already moved. You are too late. It doesn't just freeze like a picture until you can check it out.
In this real macro world, of course it is no different. The tennis ball you see is the tennis ball in some past space and time. Not only the tennis ball but anything. You can't see anything as they are but as they were. This is not a philosophy.
Now tell me if this is a fact or fiction. And no formulas and complicated language is needed to say it exactly as it is.
Lets see what the whole wave function collpasing fits into all this.
You observe the electron or whatever and you hit it with a photon and now the electron behaves like a particle because you are able to see it as the photon simply brings you the information with respect to that position and in that time. And this is called collpase of wave function. Why?Because you certainly know that the electron is right there and not someplace else. This is not that complicated, just common sense.
Now imagine you hit the electron with photon but you turned your face and didn't see the electron, you lost the information so for you the electron is not there and was not there. So you say the wave did not collapse because you lost the information. And you had no apartaus either so the photon did not take the information to some aparatus to be recorded. The information about some past event of the position of the electron at a certain specific time and loaction is gone. You missed out. But waiiit for iiit.
So photon took off with the information of the position somewhere I assure you. You are not the only recording instrument in this world. You are for you. You can't speak about the wall behind you. What if the photon took the information then hit the wall and got absorbed in that wall the information of the electron got imbedded, recorded if you will. And the wall is not talking about it. Energy does not dissapear. It is the law of conservation of energy.
A photon hitting an electron and the electron emitting the photon and the photon propagate from the electron with the energy...Maybe it got recorded by a tree out there 50 miles away. And there for that tree the electron wave function collapsed and the tree ain't talking about it.One fine day what if by some magic of science you check the tree ( like in twilight zone) and there the electron position was recorded as the energy is still there with its footprint. Strange? of course.Don't tell me that information which is energy can get lost, meaning it can dissapear from the universe. Ye right.Just because you lose your key doens't mean the key has vanished from existence.
Guess what? No it doesn't.
Wish you inspiration and delight and may you find science fascinating for all the days of your life....
